Animal Shelter of Clarendon County

A Second Chance Animal Shelter, operating as ASCC, is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Manning, Clarendon County, South Carolina. We provide housing for adoptable cats and dogs on our premises. The shelter does not receive any government funding to support its operations, staff salaries, or payroll taxes. Our funding is entirely dependent on the proceeds from A Second Chance Thrift Store and the generous donations from our members, volunteers, and supporters. Our mission is to shelter and protect unwanted and abandoned animals in Clarendon County, facilitate their adoption, promote population control through spay and neuter programs, and educate the community on responsible animal care. We are deeply grateful for our volunteers, who contribute by helping at the Thrift Store, walking and socializing the animals, preparing mail-outs, baking for sales, and assisting with various fundraising efforts. Volunteers are welcome to visit during office hours to complete an application, after which they will be contacted for an orientation before they begin their volunteer work.
