Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society in Philadelphia, PA
PAWS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to rescuing Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. As the largest no-kill shelter in the city, PAWS strives to ensure that every healthy and treatable pet has a guaranteed home. Through its adoption centers, special events, and foster care network, PAWS successfully places thousands of animals into loving homes each year. In March 2010, PAWS established a low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter and wellness clinic designed to assist pet owners and rescue organizations. This initiative aims to promote pet health and reduce the population of homeless animals. Located in the Grays Ferry neighborhood, the clinic provides essential veterinary services, including sterilization, vaccinations, and treatments for common health issues, to pet owners who may face financial barriers, as well as to rescue groups that require affordable care to support their lifesaving efforts. Support for PAWS enables vital programs, including adoption and foster care services, spay/neuter surgeries, and low-cost vaccinations. These initiatives are instrumental in reducing and ultimately eliminating the unnecessary euthanasia of animals in Philadelphia. Donations to PAWS are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
