Planned Pethood, Inc. is a foster-based animal rescue organization that operates in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Founded in 1979, our non-profit mission is to alleviate the overpopulation and suffering of dogs and cats through educational initiatives and low-cost spay-neuter programs. We are dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and finding permanent homes for adoptable dogs and cats. Our no-kill approach focuses on education, affordable spay/neuter services, and a comprehensive adoption program that helps unwanted animals receive veterinary care and find loving homes. The more resources we acquire, the more lives we can save in our community. As the executive director, I am driven by my passion for animals and my commitment to the principles upheld by Planned Pethood, Inc.

Adoption process

Planned Pethood mandates that a complete application be submitted for each animal for which you are applying. We will conduct a thorough review and screening process that includes checking the veterinary history of all pets the applicant has owned in the past five years, focusing on spay/neuter status, vaccinations, and heartworm prevention. Additionally, we verify home ownership and review pet policies with rental agreements to confirm that there will be no issues when bringing the pet home. For all dog adoptions, we conduct home visits or virtual home visits. Upon completion of these steps, a contract is signed, and adoption fees can be paid via cash, check, or an online payment portal.
