Knox County Humane Society Shelter is a nonprofit humane society located in Mount Vernon, Ohio, roughly 40 miles southwest of Columbus, within Knox County, which is also home to four other animal shelters or rescues. The organization focuses on cats, taking in and adopting out felines while operating public, low-cost clinics for both cats and dogs that provide spay/neuter surgery, wellness care, and vaccinations. Every adoptable cat is vaccinated against FVRCP and rabies as age-appropriate, spayed or neutered, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped before going to its new home. The shelter relies on community volunteers to help socialize cats, assist with fundraisers, and maintain the grounds.
