Town of Southampton Animal Shelter in Hampton Bays, NY
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) is a nonprofit organization established in 2009 to support homeless animals at the Southampton Town Animal Shelter, which had its funding removed from the Town’s budget. Since its inception, SASF has been dedicated to providing the necessary resources to rescue, feed, and enhance the lives of shelter animals, primarily dogs and cats, while successfully facilitating their adoption into loving homes. In addition to adoption services, SASF operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic aimed at addressing the issue of pet overpopulation, a challenge that requires local and humane solutions. All Pit Bulls are neutered at no charge. The clinic is staffed by a trained medical team that includes a veterinarian and two technicians. SASF's Training and Behavior Department assesses each shelter dog and creates customized training plans tailored to their individual needs and temperaments. The organization also runs a program for dogs with special needs, such as shy and deaf dogs, recognizing that well-trained dogs with positive behaviors are more likely to thrive in new homes. Public dog obedience classes are also offered, promoting stronger bonds between owners and their pets while reducing the likelihood of surrendering dogs to shelters due to behavioral issues. As a young 501(c)(3) nonprofit, SASF depends entirely on the generosity of individuals and businesses to sustain its operations, provide food for animals at the adoption center, and implement vital community programs that benefit both pets and their owners. Every donation, regardless of amount, is greatly appreciated. For information on volunteering, making a donation, or learning more about SASF, please contact us at 631-728-7387 or [email protected].
