Adoption Process

The adoption fee is $55 for cats and $60 for dogs. All pets available for adoption have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, updated on age-appropriate vaccinations, and have undergone a general health examination by our veterinarian. To adopt, you must be at least 18 years old and present a valid form of identification. Additionally, you will need to provide proof of home ownership or a lease or rental agreement that clearly outlines the pet policy. All household members are required to meet the pet prior to adoption. If you are looking to adopt a dog and already have dogs, they must also come in for a meet-and-greet.

Southern Ocean County Animal Facility in Manahawkin, NJ

The Ocean County Health Department manages two animal facilities that offer temporary housing for dogs and cats. These facilities include a 24-hour receiving service for stray animals, which are brought in by Municipal Animal Control Officers. The shelters feature indoor and outdoor dog runs, cat rooms, isolation areas, and surgical facilities. All pets available for adoption are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, and undergo a general health examination by our veterinarian.
