Start Over Rover Inc. in Hastings, NE
Start Over Rover Inc. is the only no-kill, nonprofit animal rescue and shelter in Hastings, Nebraska, about 25 miles north of Grand Island. Run primarily by volunteers and funded solely through donations from the public and local and regional businesses and groups, the organization is beginning its 10th year of operation. Its priorities are finding good homes for unwanted companion animals—whether abandoned, neglected, abused, strays, or puppy mill "cast offs"—and reducing pet overpopulation without euthanasia by covering the cost of spay/neuter, medical care, vaccinations, and daily care for each animal it takes in. Located in Adams County, it is one of three animal shelters or rescues serving the county.
