California Coastal Horse Rescue in Oakview, CA
California Coastal Horse Rescue (CCHR) is an equine rescue based in Oakview, California, in Ventura County, roughly 60 miles east of Los Angeles, and one of 15 other animal shelters and rescues serving the Ventura County area. Founded in 2000, CCHR is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer non-profit dedicated to rescuing abandoned, abused, neglected, and slaughter-bound horses, as well as horses whose owners can no longer afford their care, giving each a second chance at a healthy, productive life. Over more than two decades the organization has rescued 900+ horses, providing shelter, food, veterinary care, farrier services, rehabilitation, and adoption services with the help of over 35 volunteers. CCHR is a Verified Sanctuary with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and a member of the Homes for Horses Coalition.
