Adoption Process

We carefully match horses with potential adopters by considering the adopter's horsemanship skills and riding experience, the temperament of the horse, the horse's level of training, and the potential relationship between the horse and the adopter. Adoption fees vary, and an adoption contract is required.

California Coastal Horse Rescue in Oak View, CA

CCHR is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned, abused, neglected, and slaughter-bound horses, giving them a second chance at healthy and productive lives. The organization takes in horses from a variety of challenging circumstances, including abandonment, neglect, and the threat of slaughter, as well as those whose owners can no longer provide adequate care. CCHR offers shelter, food, veterinary care, farrier services, rehabilitation, and adoption services for the horses it rescues.
