About this shelter

Mississippihorses.org in Madison, MS

Mississippihorses.org is an equine rescue based in Madison, Mississippi, in Madison County, about 15 miles southwest of Jackson, MS. Changing the lives of horses since 2008, the organization rescues, rehabilitates, retrains, and rehomes equines, going beyond typical rescue work by also offering adoption events, equine camps, and training clinics to help match people with the right horse for their needs. Its equine rehabilitation and retraining programs are designed to help horses and new owners build the lasting connection needed for a successful partnership. The rescue relies on donations, volunteers, and foster homes—fosters get first option to adopt—and also offers riding lessons, training programs for preparing rescued horses for adoption, and community outreach such as open houses, field trips, and equine visitations.
