Community Animal Rescue & Adoption (C.A.R.A.), also known as Clinton Animal Rescue and Adoption, is a rescue organization based in Jackson, Mississippi, located in Hinds County about 6 miles southeast of the city, where 4 other animal shelters or rescues also operate. CARA is dedicated to saving dogs and cats in Mississippi while working toward a future where every animal has a loving home, operating under the motto "Until every cage is empty." Volunteers and staff provide homeless animals with food, shelter, complete veterinary care, and behavioral evaluation and socialization before matching them with adopters who complete a comprehensive application and personal interview. Every dog receives daily outside playtime and enrichment, every animal is spayed or neutered, and heartworm-positive dogs receive full treatment; last year the organization adopted out more than 600 animals.
