Adoption process

If you are interested in adopting a pet, please visit our website at www.spcaswmich.org to complete an Adoption Contact Form or email us at [email protected]. Pets adopted from the SPCA of Southwest Michigan receive several important services, including spay or neuter surgery, a rabies vaccination, a Bordetella nasal vaccination, and DHPP or DHLPP vaccinations, all up-to-date at the time of adoption. Additional services include generalized de-worming, a minimum of one fecal test for parasites, a heartworm test for adult dogs, preventative treatments for fleas and ticks, preventative treatment for heartworm, and a microchip for identification that is transferred to the adopter. Adopters are required to establish a relationship with a veterinary clinic within 10 days of adoption for the animal's ongoing care. If a dog is too young to be spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, adopters will receive a refund of a $25 deposit upon providing documentation that the sterilization procedure, which is paid for by the SPCA, has been completed. Additionally, each pet is eligible for 30 days of pre-paid pet health insurance.
