Golden Years Alaskan Malamute Rescue is located in Muskegon, Michigan, within Muskegon County, about 40 miles southeast of Grand Rapids, and shares the county with two other animal shelters or rescues. The rescue was founded in 2000 by Shirley and Carol, but closed its kennel building in 2018 due to Shirley's declining health and inability to continue caring for dogs. It is currently closed for intakes and directs Michigan shelters and humane societies to a note on its contact page for further guidance.
