Adoption Process

Adoption Requirements: To adopt an animal, you must provide a driver's license and proof of your current address if it differs from the address on your driver's license. Your living arrangements will determine the additional documentation needed. If you own your home, you will need to provide a mortgage stub, a printed copy of property information from the Department of Assessment and Tax, and proof of current rabies vaccination for all pets residing at your home. Additionally, residents of Anne Arundel County must ensure that all cats and dogs at the residence have current animal licenses. If you are renting a home or apartment, you will need to present a rental agreement, lease agreement, or the landlord's phone number. You must also provide proof of current rabies vaccination for all pets residing at your home, and, for Anne Arundel County residents, ensure that all cats and dogs have current animal licenses. Adoption Fees (payable by cash or check only): The adoption fee covers the preliminary exam by a technician, spay/neuter surgery, distemper/rabies vaccinations, worming, and a license if applicable.
