Maine Greyhound Placement Service, a no-kill shelter in Bridgton, Maine, specializes exclusively in the rescue and rehoming of retired racing greyhounds. The organization brings in NGA greyhounds from across the United States as well as hounds from New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and Ireland, taking special care of dogs with medical needs before finding them permanent homes, and it will also take back any previously adopted greyhound at any time for any reason. Volunteers help with kennel turnouts, laundry, and socializing the dogs, while the group relies on donations, a monthly giving program, and events like its yearly Open House and Reunion to support its work. Located in Cumberland County, roughly 25 miles east of Auburn, MGPS operates alongside 10 other animal shelters and rescues in the county.
