HOPE Humane Society is located at 3800 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, Arkansas, within Sebastian County, and is the largest Humane Society in the state of Arkansas. It receives no state or federal funding, relying instead on contributions from area individuals and businesses, special fundraising events, and member dues to care for the 400 to 500 animals housed at any given time. The shelter spays or neuters and microchips every adoptable animal before adoption, and it cares for more than 7,200 animals per year. HOPE began a two-year initiative in April 2016 aimed at becoming a no-kill shelter, and it is open Monday through Friday from 10:00AM-6:00PM and Saturday from 10:00AM-3:00PM; three other animal shelters or rescues also serve Sebastian County.
