The Humane Society for Hamilton County is located in Noblesville, Indiana, about 8 miles southwest of Carmel, and is one of six other animal shelters or rescues serving Hamilton County. It describes itself as one of very few open-admission, truly no-kill shelters in the country, believing every animal deserves a chance to live, love, and be loved regardless of age, breed, special medical needs, or disabilities. Its mission is to save lives, educate communities, and complete families, and it runs programs such as Pets Healing Vets, which pairs veterans with PTSD or TBI with shelter dogs or cats, and the Survivor Program, which funds medical care for at-risk animals rescued from Indiana kill shelters. The shelter also offers public microchipping and a Frosted Faces program dedicated to helping senior cats and dogs find homes.
