Central Arkansas Rescue Effort for Animals (CARE) is a rescue organization located in Little Rock, Arkansas, in Pulaski County, about 6 miles east of the city, with 21 other animal shelters and rescues also serving the county. Founded in 1998 by an initial group of four volunteers, CARE has grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with three employees and hundreds of volunteers who contribute thousands of hours to rescue and adoption, spay/neuter, and pet food pantry programs. The organization is fully funded by donations, all of which are tax-deductible, and operates its headquarters and gift shop at 5516 Kavanaugh Boulevard in Little Rock's Heights Business District.
