a Refuge for Saving the Wildlife, Incorporated in Northbrook, IL
A Refuge for Saving the Wildlife, Incorporated is a no-kill parrot rescue, rehabilitation, education, and adoption shelter located in Northbrook, Illinois, about 20 miles southeast of Chicago in Cook County, where 70 other animal shelters and rescues also operate. The organization provides temporary housing and care for Psittacine birds that need to be re-homed, working to match them with compatible households while educating the public about proper exotic bird care. Its mission is to work jointly with other avian rescue groups to eventually eliminate the need for rescues altogether, and in the meantime it serves as a sanctuary for parrots in need of a home. The Refuge is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Welfare, and is a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators.
