Refuge for Saving the Wildlife, Inc. in Northbrook, IL
Refuge for Saving the Wildlife, Inc. is a no-kill parrot rescue, rehabilitation, education, and adoption shelter located in Northbrook, Illinois, about 20 miles southeast of Chicago, in Cook County, where 70 other animal shelters and rescues also operate. The organization cares for Psittacine birds that need to be re-homed, excluding those with fatal or contagious diseases, and works to educate the public on proper exotic bird care while matching eligible birds with nurturing new homes. Its mission is to partner with other avian rescue groups to ultimately reduce the need for parrot rescues altogether, and until then to provide sanctuary for parrots in need. The Refuge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Welfare, and is a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators.
