Second Chance Humane Society is located in Ridgway, Colorado, and has served Ouray, San Miguel, and Montrose Counties since 1994, addressing the needs of homeless pets and saving lives through shelter programs and medical, educational, and other services. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and sits roughly 100 miles south of Farmington, NM. Its work is guided by the core values of Compassion, Action, Resourcefulness, and Integrity, known as "CARIng," with a mission focused on improving the lives of animals by fostering the human-animal bond. Beyond its Ridgway shelter, the organization also operates a veterinary services program, thrift shops, and community adoption and outreach efforts across Western Colorado.
