Its mission is simple but vast: to advance the safety and well-being of animals, and it operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The organization works globally, providing financial grants to shelters and rescue groups, veterinary supply aid and spay & neuter support, advocacy, and facilitated adoptions, and it addresses issues such as the dog meat trade, puppy mills, and animal testing. Through its Patriot Pets program, running since 2008, SPCA International has rescued over 1,500 animals befriended by U.S. military members and contractors overseas and reunited them with their servicemembers back home.
