Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter is a dog rescue located in Jamesville, New York, about 6 miles northwest of Syracuse. It opened its doors on October 16, 2015, with a mission to give local dogs from the Central New York community a second chance by pulling them from the overcrowded Syracuse City Shelter, and has since found homes for over 600 dogs. The shelter is open to the public Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with adoptions and meet-and-greets also available by appointment during the week. All donations made to the shelter are tax deductible, and 100% of every donation goes directly toward caring for its rescue dogs.

Applicants must submit an adoption application, be at least 21 and NY residents, provide ID and (if renting) landlord approval; the shelter reviews applications, may contact your vet, requires all household members and dogs to meet the animal, and conducts a home check before approving the adoption.
