Pawportunities Animal Welfare Service is an animal shelter located in Blue Springs, Missouri, about 9 miles northwest of Independence, MO. It is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Pawportunities is a foster-based rescue serving the Kansas City metro area on both sides of the state line, keeping animals in foster homes rather than a central facility to reduce overhead and help pets prepare for their forever homes. The organization was founded in 2018 by Bentley Siems, who used a Broadcom Masters Finalist award to launch the rescue, and it operates as a small nonprofit relying primarily on donations to fund animal care.
