Delta Animal Shelter is located in Escanaba, Michigan, about 100 miles southwest of Green Bay, WI, and is open Monday through Friday from 12:00–4:00 PM. It is a 501(c)3 private, non-profit organization and the county's only animal shelter, providing shelter, food, and medical care to over 1,200 animals each year. Formerly run by the Delta County Sheriff's Department until budget cuts forced its closure in 2011, it was taken over by a group of local animal lovers, the Delta Area Animal Society, to keep it running. It operates as an open-admission shelter that turns no animal away, with a save rate of 98%, placing it at "no-kill" status.
