Adoption process

Applicants submit an online application with a $40 non-refundable fee, then receive a confirmation email, followed by a home visit (scheduled within about 4 weeks) conducted by volunteer evaluators; once approved, applicants receive lists of available dogs and are matched with a suitable Golden, a process that can take anywhere from a few weeks to a year.

Service area: Southeastern Virginia along the I-64 corridor, from the Richmond area southeast to the Virginia/North Carolina border, including Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake.
