Washington County Animal Shelter in Bristol, VA
The Washington County Animal Shelter, officially known as the Phillip B. McCall Animal Shelter, is located in Bristol, Virginia, about 110 miles east of Winston-Salem, NC. Operated by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, which took over shelter and animal control duties in 2004, the shelter offers intake and adoption services for dogs and cats, with intake limited to Washington County, VA residents. In July 2025 the shelter relocated from its former C.C. Porter Animal Shelter site to its current location at 15050 Lee Hwy, Bristol, VA. It is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
