Bristol Virginia Animal Shelter, located in Bristol, Virginia, has been caring for and finding homes for the city's homeless dogs and cats for over 30 years. Its mission is to safeguard public health and safety, educate citizens on responsible pet ownership, and protect the community's animals from cruelty and neglect while providing temporary shelter, humane care, and placement for animals in its custody. In April 2019 the shelter opened a new 2,200-square-foot Animal Shelter and Adoption Center featuring 14 dog holding areas and 16 cat holding areas, each with isolation space, along with an examining/grooming room and clinic room, and it requires a spay/neuter contract upon adoption to help reduce pet overpopulation. Located about 110 miles southwest of Knoxville, TN, the shelter is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
