Headwaters Animal Shelter is a no-kill animal shelter located in Park Rapids, Minnesota, about 80 miles west of Fargo, ND. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for companion animals by reuniting lost or stolen pets with their owners, securing suitable homes for homeless cats and dogs, reducing companion animal overpopulation, and promoting humane education and cruelty prevention. The shelter relies on donations, memberships, and adoption fees to fund nearly 100% of its operations, and it runs a foster care program for animals recovering from illness or injury or too young to be adopted. It's open Monday 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and Tuesday through Friday 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, and while appointments are encouraged, walk-in guests are welcome.
