Paws Pet Adoption Center in Morehead City, NC

Paws Pet Adoption Center, known formally as the Pet Adoption & Welfare Society of Carteret (PAWS), is an animal shelter located in Morehead City, North Carolina, about 120 miles west of Fayetteville, NC. The organization was established to serve as an alternative animal shelter for Carteret County, focusing on adoption, spay/neutering, and community education, with the goal of building a no-kill adoption center. PAWS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that also runs a Bark Park, a Thrift and Gift Shoppe, and a free pet food pantry to help community members in need. Its current shelter facility, built mortgage-free, was damaged by Hurricane Florence and is still undergoing repairs before it can fully open.
