Adoption Process

Adoption Fees: The fee for adopting a dog is $100, which covers sterilization, microchip identification, and initial vaccinations. If the dog has already been spayed or neutered, the adoption fee is reduced to $50. The fee for adopting a cat is $75, which also includes sterilization, microchip identification, and initial vaccinations. A reduced fee of $50 applies if the cat has already been spayed or neutered. The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (TLCASC) is dedicated to ensuring public safety and the welfare of animals by enforcing animal control regulations and providing a secure, healthy environment for the animals in its care. TLCASC aims to enhance and enrich the community by offering top-tier animal care facilities and services on a national level. The center engages in several key activities, including investigating reports of animal cruelty, enforcing animal control regulations, and responding to complaints regarding dangerous or nuisance animals. It rescues animals in distress and provides humane care for over 10,000 animals impounded each year. Additionally, TLCASC offers microchip identification for pets adopted from the center, assists people in locating lost pets, and works to find homes for stray animals. For animals that cannot be adopted, the center humanely euthanizes them as necessary and coordinates foster homes as resources permit. It also provides humane euthanasia, at the request of pet owners, for terminally ill pets. Furthermore, TLCASC is committed to educating the public about responsible pet ownership.
