About this shelter

Associated Humane Societies in Newark, NJ

Associated Humane Societies is a humane society located in Newark, New Jersey, roughly 2 miles south of Elizabeth, NJ, and is open daily from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. As New Jersey's largest animal welfare organization, it operates full-service pet adoption centers alongside Popcorn Park, a sanctuary in the Pine Barrens of Ocean County that has provided lifetime refuge to abandoned, injured, and abused wildlife, exotics, and farm animals since 1977. Every dog, cat, and other domestic pet adopted through its centers is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home. In 2025 alone, the organization reported saving 12,186 animal lives through adoption, transfer partnerships, and foster care.
