START II animal rescue (Save the Animals Rescue Team II) is a rescue organization located in Englewood, New Jersey, about 6 miles northeast of Yonkers, NY. Founded in 1989, it is a non-profit 501(c)3 dedicated to alleviating the plight of homeless and abandoned companion animals, rescuing dogs and cats from kill shelters in the south as well as local municipal shelters, and providing them with veterinary care, clean living conditions, exercise, and socialization before matching them with adopters for a "fur-ever" home. The organization also promotes spay/neuter education and offers low-cost options, vaccinations, and preventive medications, and has rescued and placed over 7,000 dogs and cats since its founding. It is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
