Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter is located at 194 Route 10 West in East Hanover, New Jersey, about 10 miles southeast of Newark. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM and weekends from 12:00 to 5:00 PM, closed on all major holidays. It envisions a community where abused, neglected, and homeless animals no longer exist, working to save today's at-risk cats and dogs while preventing future homelessness through animal care, adoption matching, and community services and resources. Adoption counselors, certified trainers, and animal care specialists are on staff to help match families with the right dog, puppy, cat, or kitten.
