About this shelter
Appalachian Bear Rescue in Townsend, TN
Appalachian Bear Rescue is a black bear rescue facility in Townsend, Tennessee, located just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and about 20 miles northwest of Knoxville. It is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that has been returning orphaned, injured, and sick black bears from national parks and surrounding areas back to the wild since 1996. The facility cares for cubs in its Wild Enclosures and Red Roof Recovery Center as they grow strong enough for release, giving each bear a second chance at life in the wild. Visitors can stop by Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
