Blount County Humane Society in Maryville, TN
Blount County Humane Society is a no-kill animal shelter located in Maryville, Tennessee, about 15 miles north of Knoxville, in Blount County, where three other animal shelters or rescues also operate. Billed as the longest continuously operating and most successful humane organization in Blount County's history, it works to make the county a no-kill community by following the No Kill Equation philosophy. The shelter takes in dogs and cats, accepting certain surrenders and offering them for adoption, and relies on volunteers and donations to cover food, medical care, and operating costs. It also runs the All Creatures Thrift Store (ACTS) and a Bark-n-Purr membership program that offers community discounts while supporting animals in need.
