About this shelter
Mass Audubon's Nahant Thicket Wildlife Sanctuary in Nahant, MA
Mass Audubon's Nahant Thicket Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Nahant, Massachusetts, about 9 miles southwest of Boston. At just four acres, it is one of Mass Audubon's smallest wildlife sanctuaries, yet it serves as an inviting stopover for hundreds of migrating songbirds—including warblers, vireos, and thrushes—that pass through each year. The sanctuary features a quarter-mile trail open daily from dawn to dusk, with admission free for all ages, though dogs, horses, and other pets are not permitted on the property. As an animal shelter and sanctuary, it welcomes visitors every day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
