The Humane Society of Jefferson County WA is an open-admissions animal shelter located at 112 Critter Lane in Port Townsend, Washington, about 30 miles east of Everett. It cares for dogs, cats, and kittens, offers a barn cat adoption program, and runs a trap-neuter-return program to support Jefferson County's feral cat population. The shelter took over dog licensing and animal welfare duties from the county in 2012 and operates a stand-alone surgical unit, purchased in 2021, that provides spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchipping, and other medical care to animals in its care and to pets belonging to low-income community members. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that receives no cash funding from and is not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States, relying instead on donations and grants. Visitors can reach the shelter Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 4:30 PM.
