Oregon Donkey Sanctuary is located in Oregon City, Oregon, about 15 miles northeast of Gresham, OR. It is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)3 animal shelter serving as a forever home for special needs donkeys, each with their own story of rescue and recovery. The sanctuary was founded by Rhonda and Jim Urquhart, who began fostering and adopting out neglected and abused donkeys as a satellite facility for Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue before officially establishing Oregon Donkey Sanctuary Northwest in 2021. The organization is dedicated to advancing the status of donkeys, highlighting their gentle nature and individual personalities, and working toward building an equine therapy program to further help both donkeys and people heal together.
