Adoption Process

Applicants submit an online adoption application, which is reviewed (including reference and vet checks) in about 5 business days; approved applicants then meet the pet in person, complete adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee, and finally complete any required follow-ups like training or spay/neuter.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), no-kill rescue organization based in Wheaton, Illinois, about 8 miles south of Naperville. Rather than housing animals in a single facility, A.R.F. relies on a network of volunteer foster homes to care for its dogs and cats, and it holds adoption events primarily throughout DuPage County, including Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Downers Grove, Lisle, Darien, Lombard, and Naperville. The organization promotes spay/neuter programs to help reduce pet overpopulation and works to educate the public on responsible pet ownership. Prospective adopters can meet available pets during A.R.F.'s open hours—Tuesday 3:30–5:30 PM, Thursday 9:30–11:30 AM, and Saturday 10:00 AM–2:00 PM.
