Lake Oconee Humane Society (LOHS), formerly known as Oconee Regional Humane Society, is a non-profit, 501(c)3 animal shelter located in Greensboro, Georgia, about 35 miles north of Athens. It operates an adoption center for dogs and cats, and volunteers have supported its programs and shelter operations for 25 years. Beyond adoptions, LOHS offers low-cost spay and neuter services for the greater Lake Oconee region, partners with community networks in Greene, Putnam, and Baldwin counties to distribute pet food, and helps residents find lost pets. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
