New Hope Animal Shelter is operated by the West Volusia Humane Society, a no-kill, 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization serving Volusia County and located at 800 Humane Society Rd. in Deland, Florida, about 35 miles south of Orlando. It is not an open-admissions facility, taking in pets only as space becomes available, so anyone hoping to surrender an animal is asked to contact the shelter about intake and space beforehand. Stray animals brought to the shelter are posted on its Facebook page, and owners reclaiming a lost pet must show proof of ownership. The shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00–4:30 PM.
