Volusia County Animal Shelter is located in Deland, Florida, about 35 miles south of Orlando, and is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The shelter's mission is to provide animal services to the public in the most effective, efficient and courteous means possible, enforcing Volusia County's animal-related ordinances and state statutes while promoting responsible pet ownership through community outreach and individual contact. It operates the VCACC clinic, which offers low-cost spay and neuter services to Volusia County residents, and it enforces animal ordinances for unincorporated areas of the county and the City of Oak Hill. The shelter also offers community presentations on responsible pet ownership for schools, scouting groups, homeowners associations, and civic organizations.
