The Humane Society of Summit County is located in Akron, Ohio, about 4 miles south of the city, and welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Its mission is to serve the community by caring and advocating for vulnerable animals and enriching the lives of pets and people. The organization offers adoption of dogs, cats, and other small animals, runs a mobile veterinary clinic called MABEL to provide care to shelter animals, and operates a mobile adoption center along with humane investigation services for reporting animal cruelty. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it also supports the community through resources like pet food assistance and its Happy Tails Thrift Shop.
