About this shelter
Humane Society Of Greater Dayton Adoption Center in Dayton, OH
The Humane Society Of Greater Dayton Adoption Center is located in Dayton, Ohio, about 3 miles northeast of the city, and is open Tuesday through Friday from 1:00–6:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00–4:00 PM. As the oldest animal shelter in the Miami Valley, it has operated as a no-kill animal welfare agency since 1902, working to find forever homes for cats, dogs, and small animals while also offering veterinary care, spay/neuter services, cruelty and neglect investigations, and community outreach programs. In 2025 alone, the shelter placed 2,915 animals into forever homes and provided 9,329 spay and neuter surgeries through its Dayton Humane Veterinary Hospital. The organization is guided by the belief that every animal deserves to be valued, loved, and free from suffering, and it works to unite the Dayton community in advocating for animal welfare.
