Almost Home Humane Society is a humane society located in Lafayette, Indiana, about 50 miles southeast of Carmel, IN. Founded in 1939 as the Tippecanoe County Humane Association, it is a private, non-profit organization not directly affiliated with any national organizations, serving the Greater Lafayette area and helping more than 3,000 pets each year through its programs. It accepts owner-surrendered pets and pets transferred from other animal welfare organizations as shelter capacity allows and only by scheduled appointment, with a mission to inspire a more humane community by educating, providing resources, and collaborating to improve the lives of animals and their families. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 12:00–6:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00–4:00 PM.

Adoption process

Visit and meet the adoptable pets in person, then fill out an adoption application; once approved (sometimes requiring a 24-hour period) you can adopt the same day, and dog adoptions require an on-site meet and greet with any dogs already in the home before approval. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
