The Humane Society of Pulaski County is a humane society located in Little Rock, Arkansas, about 9 miles east of the city, open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Since 1946, it has operated as a private, no-kill shelter serving Central Arkansas, rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving homes for local dogs and cats. It pulls animals from overcrowded city and county shelters, owner surrenders, and strays, typically housing around 200 animals at a time, with about half available for adoption and the rest receiving in-house veterinary care. The shelter receives no city, county, or state funding, relying instead on donations, fundraisers, bequests, and grants, and is recognized as Arkansas's only 4-star rated animal welfare charity by Charity Navigator.
