Founded in 1982 and incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization in 1995, it has spent decades working to end animal cruelty and pet overpopulation, rescuing animals of all types and placing them into lifelong homes. The organization operates without a physical shelter, relying solely on contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations, and it also responds to natural and man-made disasters and assists low-income residents with their pets' needs. It partners with The Villages to host monthly adoption days at local recreation centers, giving pets in its care the chance to find new homes.
