Red Dog Haven in Tom Bean, TX

I became interested in saving dogs in 2012 when I learned about euthanasia practices in shelters. Since then, I have rescued dogs from these facilities, providing them with medical treatment and facilitating adoptions at Petco in Denton for about a year, in collaboration with another rescue organization. Currently, I operate a small independent rescue from my home, where my husband and I handle all aspects of the operation and funding. We have designated areas for the dogs both indoors and outdoors. Initially, we focused on bully breeds, but we are not breed-specific and now also have smaller dogs available for adoption. My motivation stems from a deep compassion for dogs that are suffering and discarded. I strive to improve their lives in any way I can.

Adoption process

During the initial contact, I inquire about basic information such as family size, the presence of a fenced yard, and any other pets. If everything is satisfactory, I arrange a meeting with the potential adopters and have them complete an application. After this, they will meet the dog. If the meeting goes well, I will check their references, including a veterinary reference. Subsequently, I conduct a home safety inspection. The adoption fee is $125. I maintain regular communication with all families who adopt my dogs to ensure their well-being.
