Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the completion of an application. The steps differ slightly based on whether you wish to adopt a dog or a cat. For dog adoptions, you must first complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website under the 'adoption' tab or at our shelter on Watkins Road. Once your application is processed and approved, you will meet with one of our staff members for an adoption consultation. During this meeting, we will discuss the dog you are interested in, address any questions you may have, and allow you to spend some time interacting with the dog. If you have another dog at home, we will conduct a dog-to-dog match-up before you complete the adoption paperwork. In some cases, a home visit may be required, depending on the specific dog. For cat adoptions, you also need to start by filling out an adoption application, available on our website or at our shelter. After your application has been processed and approved, you will meet with a staff member for an adoption consultation where we will discuss the cat you are interested in and answer your questions. Our cat room is accessible to the public, and following the consultation, you can proceed to complete the adoption paperwork.
